Origin
Friedrich or Firtz Glatz was an outstanding racing driver who roamed the racetrack for almost 40 years under various aliases such as "John Long", "Umberto Calvo", "Pierre Chauvet" and "Frederico Careca". He began his career in the 1960s in Formula V where he won several races and set numerous speed records. >company made it necessary for him to disguise his real identity not to lose the trust of his business partners and banks. He died in July 2002 in a race in the Czech Republic, while leading the field. Besides his great passion for motorsports, he was fascinated by watches. The mechanical precision and aesthetics inspired him to start a collection in the early 1990s that was kept within the family and is now offered to the market. 56 wristwatches will be offered in live and online auctions. All the lots from this collection can be found on piguet.com with the keyword "Glatz".
